Creative Director (Freelance)

Job Description:

We're looking for a highly creative well-rounded individual who can generate fresh ideas and follow them through to completion. The Creative Director is responsible for the entire creative, strategic, and logistical life cycle of their event projects. You must possess strong story telling skills and have the ability to inspire and collaborate with a team of producers, account directors, graphic artists and clients in the development of content that is engaging, entertaining, on message, and on brand.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Work strategically with Account Director and Producer to ensure work is delivered with the highest levels of creativity and production value, and that it meets or exceeds industry standards
  • Act as creative lead for all projects, partnering with clients, producers, editors, graphic artists, and designers to achieve the finished product, while articulating a strong understanding of client brand, positioning, competitive landscape and strategic goals
  • Provide creative messaging for all team members on a project
  • Work with clients to develop strategies and generate new ideas around these objectives
  • Develop and pitch creative concepts to other departments to proactively fulfill needs for content
  • Assist in creative problem solving at the initial request stage, offering creative ways to accomplish the requestor’s needs within their project constraints and budgets
  • Work with and guide editors during projects, provide creative direction, and participate in client reviews.
  • Be involved in various client facing strategy, content, creative, or design workshops, status, budget and recap meetings as required
  • Manage and bill time with efficiency


  • A minimum of 5 years’ professional experience as Creative Director or Associate Creative Director
  • Demonstrated history of high-quality, high-impact content creation for clients
  • Deep understanding of established and emerging trends in content consumption and audience habits
  • Exemplary organizational skills and the ability to direct multiple projects under tight deadlines
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
